Hydrogen (H2) is one of the gases produced in the intestinal lumen by bacteriological breakdown of carbohydrates. However, many studies have shown that approximately 30% of patients produce methane (CH4). Detection of both gases is complementary and it helps people to know about their digestive problems. It is also important to measure carbon dioxide (CO2) in the breath to determine whether the breath samples that are being analyzed are not contaminated either with room air or bronchial dead space air. The Lactotest system is an open and evolutive solution:

The USB communication allows you to interface the equipments to a PC software for database integration, export of results to the Hospital Informatics System (XML, HL7, etc..) or simply print  directly your results in MS Word allowing you to have a perfect integration of results (H2 + CH4 + CO2)  in the patient file.

Applications:

  • Carbohydrate malabsorption detection
  • Carbohydrate breakdown deficiency detection
  • Lactose intolerance diagnosis
  • Bacterial overgrowth diagnosis
  • Transit time diagnosis

Non-invasive:

Non-invasive sampling by end expired gas collection.

Electrochemical Cell:

The H2 electrochemical cell has been carefully developed for the application with lifetimes in excess of 3 years.

CO2 & CH4 Analyzers:

Fast Infra-red analyzers allows you to get the results in less than 50 sec ond s and  require minimal maintenance.

Warm up time: 30 minutes

Calibration:

Pre-mixed calibration gas system 100 PPM CH4  and  H2  + 5% CO2

Low Cost:

Simple modular construction minimizes manufacturing and maintenance costs.
